changing its name and will be known as: Tecla Languages |
Why should you learn a new language?
Learning a foreign language for international business has become indispensable, yet the number of business personnel and managers who do not speak a second language is still very high, especially in the Anglo speaking Countries.
English is the language of international business, diplomacy, science, technology, and tourism, so why should English speakers bother to learn foreign languages? The main reason is that languages give an insight into cultural diversity, it is crucial in overcoming misunderstandings, gaffes, prejudice and ignorance of other cultures.
Ignorance of other languages and cultures has led several major U.S. businesses into many blunders: Kentucky Fried Chicken's first translation of its "Finger Lickin' Good" slogan into Chinese turned out to mean "eat your fingers off" and Ford had to pry the nameplates off the subcompact Pintos it introduced in Brazil when it discovered "pinto" was local slang for "small male genitals".
Learning a language isn't just about vocabulary and grammar rules, it's about coming to a deep cultural understanding as well as being regarded as good manners, politeness, a sign of commitment and interest in other international companies.
At Language Leaders we offer courses in: English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French and many others on request.
